Dessine-moi un Mouton – den franske klubben (DMUM) is a French club in Stavanger created by and for families who want to preserve the French language and culture while living abroad. Founded in 2022 by local parents, DMUM provides a new path for bilingual, multilingual, and culturally curious families to stay connected.

In a city known for its global ties, many French-speaking families have found themselves without access to consistent language education. With the closures of the French Lycée and Institut Français, a vital part of cultural life in Stavanger disappeared — until now.
DMUM was created to fill that gap by providing
Whether a family is returning to France, raising children bilingually, or exploring French for the first time, DMUM offers a trusted and joyful space to learn and grow.
DMUM was officially launched in 2023 during a visit from Florence Robine, Ambassador of France to Norway, and quickly grew into a hub for Francophone education in the region.
We are a non-profit organization. Our board includes a president, secretary, treasurer, and academic advisor, and we’re supported by a dedicated team of native French-speaking educators and volunteers.
Everyone brings unique skills and energy to DMUM — guiding learning, supporting programs, and shaping new initiatives that reflect the evolving needs and spirit of our community.
FLAM (Français Langue Maternelle) is an initiative created by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to support children growing up outside of France. With over 150 associations on four continents, the network brings structure, quality, and connection to families around the world.
As the only FLAM member organization in Norway, DMUM brings this global vision to life in Stavanger, following a proven educational model recognized by the French government.
DMUM continues to grow. In 2025–2026, we’re deepening our cultural programs, expanding access to resources, and strengthening partnerships with local and international allies — all to create more meaningful opportunities for our students to learn and thrive.
